This website was written in raw XHTML using the PSPad
text editor and meets all relevant W3C standards.
It has been fully tested on Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Konqueror
and is designed to run at a range of resolutions.
Rather than use server-side scripting (i.e. ASP or PHP) all interaction is done with JavaScript; this means that the entire site can easily be downloaded and ported onto CD, USB pen drive or PDA — making it a handy on-the-job reference guide.
Pages are designed to be printed as notes: the contents tree will automatically disappear if the webpage is sent to a printer. The independently-scrolling contents tree can be switched off if required, which is no problem because the site is designed to default to a traditional navigation system if the tree is unavailable. The contents tree is automatically disabled on handheld devices to maximise screen space.
The expanding tree utilises Geir Landrö's dTree JavaScript object library, with some tweaking to remove bugs. When time allows, the expanding tree will be re-written from scratch to make it sensitive to font size changes.
